With all due respect, and with condolences to his family, what was a tourist doing out at 4:00 a.m.?

We just got back from a week in Cabo san Lucas, and every night at 4, we were in our hotel room asleep.

Personally, I would not be out at 4 AM either, however, if I wanted to be, I would hope not to be shot dead while on vacation

Not enough information yet, probably won't be much regardless.

Tragic nonetheless.

Guess I was wrong, more information, and I'm still going to contend that this is not normal "tourist" vacation behavior, and especially for us "divers".

Arrest made in bar altercation death of American man

Draw you own conclusions, but this does not represent a pervasive atmosphere in Baja California Sur.

Probably best not to start a fight with a hooker in a country where the police are corrupt, cartel justice is pervasive, and you're a foreigner whose life is worth less down there than the gun used to shoot you.

Frankly I'm surprised they caught anybody at all. I wonder how likely it is that this is the guy that actually did it. The Mexican legal system is actually a pretty efficient way to get rid of people with competing business interests.....

That's not to say that Mexico isn't a wonderful country with a vibrant culture and incredible people. You just need to remember that it isn't the US, the rules are not the same, and you're a foreigner in a foreign land. Be smart, act responsibly, don't be a jerk.
