The intent is to hold people accountable for actions on the Internet for which they would also be accountable in person.

Fraud, copyright infringement, libel, bullying, etc.

Unfortunately, if the White House (or any other liberals!) get involved, you have a huge chance of abuse. :shakehead:

Oh please. Don't try to turn this into a right vs left issue. It's not. I'm sure you'd classify me as a liberal, but you won't be seeing me calling for your arrest form the crime of double posting.

Do what you want, if they arrest you they don't have prision space to house you, so you'll go free anyway.

Then, as a criminal, you'll qualify for a helping hand or head start program. :D

Dog, not wanting the right versus left to come up per se, but the desire of more government tends to be in the liberal camp, and I just do not think it is wise to get government involved in the Internet any more than they are now.

What the DoJ wants to do is to hold people as responsible for their behavior on the Internet as they would be held responsible in person to person.

Remember the young lady that killed herself after the mom fake-friended her and then trashed her? The DoJ position will allow people to be prosecuted. The White House position is to put "we can get you for that" rules in place, so they can rely on those when they don't have a "real" crime.

Hmmm.... (rubbing hands together).... could this be an end to all those threads advocating 'Deep Air Bounce Diving'?

Amazing how you never miss an opportunity to brown nose.....

Haha, with DOJ making interpretations like this one that seems to be very much needed too though in order not to be put in jail for flaming some troll in the pub

Soon we will all have our individual internet identification number that moves with us from work, to home, to internet cafe in mexico , administered by Homeland Security of course. Ordered golf cubs, watched porno, looked up TNT, booked a vacation, it will all be reflected in your ID records. Using the internet without using your ID number or using a false one will be a felony.

Facebook has already started requiring an individual ID number for its users, phone number. That will be interesting to see what they do with it. You have established a relationship with them, so they can call you on your cell phone.
