There are J-valves made with a HP port for a SPG. They were probably made when SPG's started and were not considered reliable, since early J-valves did not have it and the later 3000# service J-valves do not have it.

I have a '70's vintage twin 72 J-valve manifold with the HP port and Dacor SPG that came with the rig originally. The galvanized bands made for a plastic backpack are priceless but I wish I could find an original backpack.

Trained when J-valves solved the OOA problem.

I may be old, but I’m not dead yet.

The blue aluminum one?? If so maybe we can deal.

Blue aluminum?

Bob

Blue anodized aluminum Voit J rod.

i have 2 of the plastic us diver twin back packs
hanging in the garage! both had 53's with the carrying handle on the band
center flip wingnut attached
i use the bands and manifolds but the backplates i dont
yaeg

I have one for my al 50's, with a short rod, the tanks are smaller in diam' that a new manifold would not get close enough to use pack and band.

I will work on old manifold to stop leaking, to use it, as I want to use j valve for reserve.

As I hunt I want to have a reserve and not use a spg anymore. Just want tank, computer, compass, and reg, no BCD. Computer, compass on wrist.

I like your style.
I didn't know you were a minimalist.

That's about where I'm at. Old school beaver tail wetsuit with attached hood, tank on a pack with one second stage or DH, bottom timer, J valve with rod, compass, no BC, no SPG, totally simple.
I use this for quick shore dives in the 30 to 40 foot range when I want to pop a few fish for dinner.
Nothing crazy.

This is my '71 usd tank, backpack, j-valve with the rod attached through a notch in the tank band.

I've used a loop of bicycle tubing threaded through the cam band... it works.

Thal, I like that over the shoulder idea. I've seen many older navy photo's wherein the divers have j valves but no rods. I'm going to try it tomorrow and see how it goes.

Work in progress. That shrinking webbing again?
