wow! I would loved to have been on that dive.

Love all the white tip reef's that Cocos has, great footage of them. Does anyone know whether that's how bigger population of white tip reef sharks there would normally be in other areas if they were not fished so heavily? Or is this amount of white tips unique to Cocos?

I'm no expert but Cocos is unique for sharks because of the multiple currents that intersect the island bringing nutrients for the sharks' prey.

Cool. Yeah I understand there are so many fish there because it's a sea mount with upwelling of nutrients which makes it an area of high productivity. Is this why there are so many reef sharks there though? I would have guessed that most healthy reefs could provide as much of the foods a reef shark would eat?

I have a 'suspicion' it's got alot to do with the 'reef' sharks not being targeted by fishermen as heavy as say other reefs?
 
I'll be playing with them in December in the Northern Bahamas. I did that dive in 2008 and can't wait to do it again!
