I would like to take more videos with my Canon S95 which is in a Recsea housing and was wondering whether a single Sola 800 would provide sufficient light for reasonably close shots, like anenome fish for example. Any other issues I should be aware of?

For macro not an issue with a single 800; wide angle you will likely need two of them.

thanks. I'll start with one and see how I go

A single Sola 800 should work reasonably well for close-up subjects on full power. Have fun! I got some nice shots using my Sola 800 the other day in So-cal. - Scott

Hey Scott -

How would a single Sola 1200 compare in "range" to a single GN20 strobe for still photography? As in, if the strobe provides adequate light at X feet, the 1200 would be X? X/2?

I understand, I think, most of the trade offs between continuous light and strobes. Just wondering, for cases where one was going to shoot mixed video and stills if the Sola (1200 or 800) has adequate brightness.

Thanks,
Mike
