One of my SOLA 4000 video lights broke off of its mounting ball during a drift along the Gulf Stream Ledge off of Boynton. For divers and ops hitting this area please have your divers keep an eye out for it. I know, one in a million shot, but it does happen . . .

Sorry to hear you lost it.

I tether all lights and cameras with monofilament and a fishing quick disconnect ...... Basically anything expensive that may fall off has a leash.

Been there, done that!

Good idea! Don't know whether it would have saved me in this case, as I would have wrapped the tether around the ball, which stayed in the clamp, while the place where the ball stem attached to the light is what broke off.

But, I am going to follow your idea in the future!

Will be in Boynton Beach 9/11-20. Though will mainly be diving the Castor with Underwater Explorers, will keep my eyes open if I get to Gulf Stream. I have been quite lucky finding Go Pros, particularly those on head bands. Who did you dive with, perhaps they can let me know where you were?

Hi, I was with Splashdown. Don't ruin your dive looking for it, but the beer would be on me if a miracle happened . . .
