My first shore dive was on waves about that high up on the North Carolina coast.. We found it easier to get out into the waves and put on one fin and then use your foot/hands to pull/push yourself along the bottom and use your foot w/o fin and hand to "hold" youself in place as the waves came over and let the out current help pull you out.

I was interesting. Waves were big enough people were surfing on down the beach. However, there wasn't near as much chop as the conditions in the video and also the waves were not as "constant/frequent". It looks like these guys got bounced around a whole lot more than we did for sure though!!!

Glad you guys liked the video . Gotta hand it to those guys for going back in the second time (which is why I thought the song was so appropriate! ). That surf, coupled with a strong southern in-shore current really punished them - I was tired from watching them! There were a pair of lost fins (ahem ..... won't mention who ), but in all they made it back whole!

I personally would not have made it through the surf for the first dive, not to mention doing a second. I am sure it was worth the pounding though.
