Victoria Vis conditions?

Over the past few weeks, the vis has been good to great in the central island. Starting to see some sea lions, usually one or two together, but not the masses we see in late January through the herring spawning season in March.

Now if the wind would just settle down, we could get back in the water again !!

Madrona Point - one of our favourite dive sites, around 1:00 this afternoon. First photo is looking towards Madrona Point from Rathtrevor Beach. Second photo is the normal small "V" entry point. Waves much bigger than the photo shows.

Did see some divers coming out at the big "V". Not sure if they went in at the small wall and came around the point, or entered and exited at the big "V". While no doubt doable, my big concern would be if something went wrong, and you had to surface way off shore. With the conditions shown in the firest picture, getting back to shore safely would not be easy.

Wow - it has been over a year since I posted in this thread.

Visibility at most central island dive sites is good to great. Last few dives at a variety of sites the vis has been 50 plus feet at depth, and less in the shallows due to the high winds stirring things up.

Water is cooling down as well, which will make visibility much better through the winter months.

Sea lions are starting to appear again. They will be congregating in Northwest Bay and frequenting the log booms while searching for a mate.

Wow - almost a year since I posted in this thread.

Visibility at most central island dive sites is good to great. Last few dives at a variety of sites, ie: Madrona, Cottam Point, and Oak Leaf, the vis has been 50 plus feet at depth, and less in the shallows due to the high winds stirring things up.
