Vis has remained relatively stable over the past couple of weeks in the central island area. :ok:

Madrona Point, Wall Beach, Dolphin, and Tyee all around 40 - 50 feet. A little bit less
in the shallows, and a little bit more at depth. :fish:

The herring spawn did not seem to affect the area as it has done in previous years.
The majority of the fishery was northwest of Parksville, so the fish boats did not
have as big an affect either.

Willis Pt.
April 7, 2013

Top 40' murky 10-15' vis with lots of suspended material.
Below 50' vis improves considerably ...maybe around 30'+. The deeper you go the better the vis.
Take a light, it's dark by 50'.

What vis ????

Dove at Tyee Cove last Thursday - 10 foot maximum visibility :depressed:

Dove at Dolphin Beach this morning - 5 foot visibilty at best :depressed: and this on a high slack tide.

Sure wish I was back in Cozumel right now :D

Pretty terrible at McLoughlin Pt. (across the harbour from Ogden Point). Visibility was 3-6' near shore. I had to swim with my arm out so I wouldn't bump into anything. Farther out near the base of the reefs, visibility "improved" to maybe 10'.

Local dive sites in the central island are still quite soupy from the surface down to about 50 feet. :depressed: After about 50 feet things do clear up but the soup makes it more like a night dive than a day dive. Lights are definitely needed.
