Did anyone dive Vets today? We're planning to do a dive there tomorrow but curious about conditions.

Viz was less than 5 feet at Heisler Park today.

We decided to try out some la county diving for the first time today..don't know about vets but old marineland was terrible with less than 5 ft vis, moderate surge/surf. Surface temp 54 degrees and now a missing fin :shakehead: (black us divers blade with scubapro spring strap?) But it looked so good from the upper parking lot!

Justin,
I think your being a little to optimistic regarding the vis. I couldn't see the tips of my fingers with my arm held straight outhttp://www.scubaboard.com/forums/images/smilies/Character%20Smiles/ne_nau.gif

We dove Leo Carillo today, got in the water late morning as all the classes were coming in. So glad we did. Cloudy and gloomy when we entered and when we exited 55 mins later it was sunny and warm (air, not the water, water temp was 55. Viz was 10ish or less up till about 100 yards out, then it cleared up to 15 to 25 past the kelp, tuned into quite a nice little dive. Lobsters were out past the kelp, kept 2keepers and saw a good many adult Sheephead and fish life. Practiced some skills. Stopped at Maibu Seafood for some clam chowder on the way home, day couldn't have turned out better

Vet's was AWESOME today! Could see the sand 20' away from the surface (horizontal vis was about the same). Best part: SQUID RUN! They're out and mating right now by the thousands. Head down the line at the lower staircase and you'll run into them in 50-60'. Some serious squid orgy. :)

A dive at Palos Verdes last night and there were a bunch of squid around the anchor line. I think vis was better on the surface - a good surge at 50'. Nice dive but anchor got stuck so a second dive to free the anchor was somewhat of a pain...

I used 500 pounds of air to drop to 50', move the anchor, ascend to safety stop and a three minute wait.

Dwayne
