Are all of you posters really trying to tell us that you've never been rerouted from your chosen and/or dive site because the newbies outweighed the experienced divers on the boat? My guess is despite a weather factor, that boat was not sbout to take newbies to it. Further, it may hsve been that the newbies would be diving with the shop more days, whereas they had a two tank one day diver wanting a wreck. Ya well business says too bad for him. He should have been offered to opt out.

Current can be a real problem on the Waikiki wrecks, and a good reason not to dive them if bad. We attempted a dive on the YO-257 last summer to encounter less than ideal conditions. The dive master signalled to abort shortly after reaching the top deck. Reboarding the boat in the degrading conditions was a challenge. The result... One badly shaken newb and two experienced couples saying " Well? That was interesting".

Dr Lecter, or should I call you John? why didn't you just tell us that in the first place? But be that as it may, you've misunderstood me. Conspiracy? How about a pattern. Which takes me back to my earlier post. Who here among us hasn't found themselves on a boat that didn't deliver the dive we sought, either due to expedience/cost for the dive op or site going to the least experienced divers on the boat?

Don't think this has only happened to me. Frustrates me every time and as long as it is my choice to make the dive, I can live with it. However, for example, if I'm promised the Blue Hole dive or some such and then it is not delivered because 1) dive op doesn't want to pay for the gas 2) other drivers on the boat have determined a different site for whatever reason, inexperience or group consensus then the dive op should be giving me the opportunity to opt out of that dive.

Have had a bad weather day, rough conditions and broken boats which I do not count in my earlier statement. Acts of God, not deliberate misrepresentation or misled.

Again, OP should have been offered to opt out without penalty.

As I mentioned before. I am staying away from posting on Trip Advisor, that includes Yelp or any other Business Rating Site.
I posted on here to Advise Experienced Divers.
Not to hurt the shop, but just to help Experienced Divers to be more aware when researching their trip.

Also, I do not know anyone on these boards, I do not know any of the shops in Hawaii.
Just a lowly diver that escorted his daughter off to school on the big island and on my way home decided to spend some time by myself in Honolulu.
Decided to do a dive
and
Tour Pearl Harbor.

I did both.

Coulda woulda shoulda, would not have made a difference. In his own words:

I will say: Reef Pirates did tell me that with the weather we may not make it out to the wrecks. But we will still find you some great diving. My response was something like do what you can.

I was not offered a refund to pull from the dive. Nor would I have taken such an offer. I understand fully the risk of the weather when it comes to diving.
