Okies! I'm liking that!

AND, to once again display my ignorance, what spring is down by Venice Beach? :11:

Please! Be kind! I'll one day know those awesome diving locations!

There are no springs down by Venice. The furthest south you will find a spring is in Ocala. That would be Paradise Spring. Don't worry about the questions. We all have to learn someplace and you picked the place with the most knowledge about diving this area. So feel free to ask away. I don't think any of us get tired if discussing diving whether we have answered the questions before or not.

Todd, none of us mind that you aren't an expert on local diving! Heck, I don't think any of us are experts on local diving!!!

There is Warm Mineral Springs in Northport (south of Venice) but I'm not sure you can dive there.

Nope :shakehead: We just called them this past weekend & were told "snorkling only".

Guys, I think we need to reconsider this dive. I just talked to Ken at Florida West. The vis off the beach within swimming distance is horrible. They are having to boat people out a mile or more to do any of the tooth dives.

That's not actually related to the visibility, the charter boat always goes to that same area, which is the area most call the boneyard. You can boat, kayak, or swim to it if you're really determined.

At the big gathering last month I paddled out on my kayak, which takes me about 20 minutes, thinking I'm adventurous, and I paddled up on two guys about to drop down that had spent the last hour and 20 minutes swimming to it. And, it was their first time there! I gave them the best tips I could on what to look for. After that they really deserved to find something. I don't remember your names, but if you're out there, you two are a little nuts.

I'm interested either this Saturday or next if anyone wants to car pool from Jacksonville! I can always throw my canoe in the truck to get us out to the bone yard.

Looks like Gustav is going to try to put a damper on the weekend
