Last minute I know, but is anyone interested in doing a beach dive tomorrow morning at alhambra? I wanted to get there between 8:30 and 9:30 or so for a one-tank dive.

Venice was beautiful today. All sun, no surf. Viz was at least 15'. No megs, but it was a great dive.

I'll be out there, same spot tomorrow if anyone else feels like joining me.

Dude, sorry I missed your message, I could have made it. I'll be there tomorrow around 9ish.

Well, I wasn't really expecting any company since I posted it like 3pm yesterday.

I'll be there at 9 too. I'm bringing the whole family out. But the concession I have to make when I do that is one tank only! See you there.

lol. Better one tank than none! See ya there.

Missed you down there. My son had a b'day party to go to, so the family stayed home. The spot was pretty crowded today. Viz was again excellent. See you next time.

Rough night last night. Got up and was sick. Hope I can catch you next time.

Hi fossilhunter,

My wife and I dove Venice Beach last week and had a good dive. We took the DiveYak but didn't go very far out. Got one Meg tooth and a few small ones.

We are planning to make a two day event Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1 & 2.

If anyone would like to join us that would be great.

Where are some good hunting grounds?

I think I would be able to join you for one of the days. Won't know for sure until Monday. What time do you think you'd be there?

I went out last Tuesday on a boat straight offshore from Alhambra St, maybe 300 yds?? I'm bad at guessing distances, but it wasn't too far out - perfect to get to with a DiveYak I imagine. We were in 28'. The guy I dove with found 4 megs, one 4" one was close to perfect. 3 of his were 3",4" and 5" inchers. He apparently has been doing this for quite some time and has the eye for it I guess. I found a 2.5" one with perfect serrations. I still have yet to get the big one though.

We plan to leave here early morning Tuesday (6:00ish) so we'd be there around 9:00am. We plan to stay and dive some more Wednesday. My wife sometimes poops out after one dive a day, but I've got two tanks so I plan to make the most of the trip. (I may even bring a third spare tank I don't use much because it's got a yoke fitting and my reg is DIN so I have to use an adapter.)

We found one 2 1/2" Meg last week and half a dozen little teeth. The meg had no serations left and one ear was broken off, but I was still excited to find it.
