Scubaboard Venice Beach Bash - August 6, 2011

The All New and Improved, Rescheduled Scubaboard Venice Beach Bash Thread is here. I thought it would be easier to start a new thread than use the old old so here we go. I apologize for the late notice so get the word out. Lets make this year's beach bash as fun as the all the others.

Jamie of Aristakat, Debra a/k/a Fossil Babe with the Big Flat Top and Rick with Man Overboard have volunteered to transport us back and forth to the boneyard for a one tank/one hour dive. This is their way way of saying Thank You to all the wonderful SB'rs who have used and recommended their services throughout the year.

There will be a tip jar for each boat for you to show our appreciation for volunteering their time and their expertise. Please be generou$ as they are being generou$ for us.

There will be three trips scheduled for each boat with a maximum of 6 divers per boat. Times are noted below for each boat. Please be suited up and ready to go before your scheduled time. We have a gap between the launches for safety so there is only one boat on the beach at any given time.

As always, we need food and drink. No alcohol. Sorry Jenny and Chad . Please bring food stuffs that will not wilt or melt - this is August remember - snacks, munchies, drinks, paper products, clean up crew, tables, shade...and anything else you think will make this annual event a success.

I have never done this. Could someone give me an idea of what it is like (vis, how the dives work, how deep, etc)? It sounds interesting.

Just show up and join the fun. Meet some great people who all have a common interest - scuba diving. I cannot tell what viz is like right now but there is probably someone here who can but could be inches or feet. Depth is 15-25 feet. Pick a boat and time to get a space. A buddy would be great to have with you but sure there would be someone you could tag along with. Bring your beach chair, some food and drink - no alochol. FYI - food and drink is usally community fare. We all share with each other. This will be my second time for the beach bash and I would not miss it for anything. If I dont dive OK with me because of all the friends who are around.

One additional note... Most diving is considered solo, because you are caught up in looking for teeth. If you have a problem, the usual answer is stand up... Since you are new (and let people know that you are new), most people who dive with you will show you your first tooth so you know what to look for. After that, you will be hooked for life!

I'm flying down that weekend to dive Venice. I'm already scheduled to dive with Megaladon Charters in the AM. Does the bash go into the afternoon? I wouldn't mind meeting up with everyone and maybe doing a beach dive or two in the afternoon.
