Where is the best place to purchase the Vee channel back plate weights. All of a sudden I cannot find them. Something in the eight pound range that will work with a HammerHead BP. The old weigh belt just seems to be getting heavier and heavier. Thanks.

Yeah, thta might be best. I can easily fabricate an aluminum mold and then just poor the lead into it. I don't have that much lead on hand that is not already in weights. I can round some up.

I would not normally use so much weight but my 1/4 inch sharkskin wet suit is like wearing foam flotation--lol---at least it is a warm suit. N

Sorry for the confusion, but are you looking for a V-weight to sit back between your doubles behind your plate, or a channel-weight (or P-weight) that sits in front of your plate inside the channel?

If you're looking for a V-weight Halcyon sells 8 and 11 lb V-weights. If you're looking for a channel weight I got mine from FredT on this board, but lots of guys pour their own to fit their plate. One pretty nice option if you are not wedded to a bar is a P-weight or channel weight made of shot-filled material. There are grommets where the two bolts pass through the material, and the weight sits between the bolts. I'll see if I can find a photo, and IIRC it's made by Dive Rite - http://www.diveriteexpress.com/bcs/img/bc21504lg.jpg

Here is one example of how to pour your own:

Doc,

Yes, I do want to place it in the channel and so my question was not accurate, sorry about that. Thanks for the ideas.

Check out this XS Scuba v-weight pouch:

It's new (from their 2007 catalog), so I'm not sure if you can order them yet. Oxycheq also sells a similar "sausage" weight.

Of course if you can make your own then that's probably the best solution (unless you need to be able to vary its weight).
