I have installed SmarTrak and uwatec irda adapter to transmit data from
Aladin G2. It works fine on my windows 7 pc (install and run as
administrator!!). But on my windows 8 pc I can not use it!! I have installed the newest
SmarTrak version and the windows 8 driver from SP's, website. I am logged on
as administrator. The best result I have until now is, that the transmission
starts, but faile after a few seconds.

Can anyone help??

First try this: Get a USB extension cable and get the IRDA device to stay in place over the sensor as shown. This will remove all motion and insure that you have a strong signal.

If this doesn't work try loading an older IRDA driver.

i had a problem using it with windows. if you have a mac, give it a whirl.

Is it the same PC just upgraded to windows 8 or a new/different pc?
If it is a new PC is it running 32 or 64 bit version of the software?
There is a driver option for compatibility mode that you may need to set.
If its a different PC you may have a USB problem. Not all USB slots are equal, some USB slots don't seem to supply enough power to run some devices. Try them all.

Frustrating that there is so little diagnostic information.
