I just push the button and talk... :14: Nobody but my buddy knows the bad things I say about the tourists... :D
Hey now, thats cheating........But it is the second best way I've read so far.
Using a speargun to gig 'em in the calf and reel 'em in beats it out though(because it works for everybody in the water, not just your buddy.)And it works nearly as selective as yours.(only gets the attention of the diver selected)
May also be noted that it shows potential as a deterent for the fishermen that are sure that the bubbles by the flag/float must be the biggest fish in the Ocean :D

Just an aside...Make sure you are near your buddy. You can hear the noises, but if you are separated, your buddy, nor does anyone else know where the sound is coming from underwater. Sound hits both ears at the same time underwater so there is no sense of direction. If you become separated from your buddy you will get his or her attention...and everyone elses...but it won't help you find them if you become separated.

............but it is hard to keep a hold of them.

I have had divers from all over the world talk me out of mine. I generally surprise them with their request at the end of my diving week.

Now when I order them I order 3-4 at a time so I can make sure I always have one. I think the one on my bc is #10.

Good Diving,

Dave

I used thank banger

Thanks for the posts ... definitely gave me ideas. I'm not sure my g/f will appreciate the steel rod through the calf, but if there are pretty fish around ... hey, it might be worth a permanent limp to point out the moray.

I seem to never hear things underwater. People always talk about hearing loud boats but I can't hear them. I don't know why but I seem to filter things out. I try and stay within reaching distance of my buddy at all times.

Me either. I thought I was the only one... It seems that way anyway.
I don't know whether I'm just not listening, I don't think about it when I'm down, or I just really can't hear for some reason. I can hear boats when snorkeling and doing shallow free dives, but I can't say I've ever heard a boat while scuba diving. Wierd.
