I was in South Africa a few years back and had some amazing dives, I'm not sure of IDC's choices, I think they're few and far between as the IE's aren't so regular, I hear they do programs around Sodwana Bay.

One advantage, and long term benefit to doing the IDC in the Bay Islands with most dive centres, is the opportunity to assist pre/post IDC on actual courses the dive center has scheduled. Pre-IDC this gives you the chance to refresh your skills and get back into diving, and as a DM. Then post-IDC you get to apply a lot of what you learned and getting certifications is an added bonus, as ncchuck also mentioned.

Knowing basic Spanish always helps, even if you're not teaching in Spanish being able to converse with staff who only speak Spanish is especially helpful n some resorts and throughout Central America.

Best wishes,
Andy
