yeah , that's what they say, but know it's time to start doing longer decos and tox out the OOA diver, now I'm having fun. I started with an OOA and now I got shake an bake. and I still got deco

My answer is the breakaway O-ring on the primary bolt snap
Why would you tox him? Your not toxing yourself....

But after you give him gas...and have gone to your backup..you could now take the time to rearrange who gets what gas....(ie give him you long hose/back gas...and you go back to the deco gas)
because you will have to have him hang out with you...because you can't go anywhere.

novadiver:
Every one of the worst case senarios in this thread could have been solved with a short hose. If you don't need it , don't bring it and please don't give it to a newbie poser. That's uncool

The octo which gets pulled out of its holder and dangles behind the diver (free flowing, or simply out of reach) is solved by the long hose.

I believe that was your example, though.

You must have some serious skills to instantly tox out a diver on the gas you're breathing.

That's my point, I'm not going anywhere. My longer hang will not help this diver, and I'm not the saint mass diver is. You get what I give you when I give it to you , or you can learn not to @@@@ up

or you can learn not to @@@@ up
OOA does not always mean someone @@@@ed up. It could have been an equipment malfunction.

at the end of a dive I'll hit PPOs of 1.6 at seventy feet with 50/50. If a diver has burned through all his backgas and doesn't have a deco profile that YOU know , he/she can tox quick. Remember, their just happy to have gas. they got no clue of their ox clock, and I can't come off deco because I'm now on backgas, Their ox clock is ticking and I'm not moving off my profile. CF

Gee, we've come a long way from the premise that a long hose is suitable for recreational diving ... haven't we.

Did y'all forget the title of this thread? Or are we just reaching for ridiculous scenarios to try to impose a point ???

Here.....I'll post this a second time...try to read it

BTW - a good way to test that your backup reg is functioning before every dive is simply to breathe off it while you're putting your fins on.

which is exactly what I do. I check primary and backup just before I get into my rig (while watching SPG needle).
