wow so many things at once. Well the reason for the longer hose and swivel , to begin with was less stuff dragging around. The reason I mentioned the dive planning was cause its always good to mention you dont have a standard octi. But what im saying here is since using the above config I totally agree with "longer is better". HEY DONT ATTACK THE NEWBIE LOL

No one is attacking the n00b here. Yet ;)

You are a step in the right direction with the longer hose and swivel (though some will argue the swivel is another failure point). But if you look at folks who hang their backup on a bungie around their neck, you should notice they are actually quite streamlined ~ with the advantage of still being able to maintain good communication with their buddy since their heads have full range of motion :D

See my profile pic as one example.

Uncle Pug's bungie necklace is a bit long, but it's quite streamlined as well: http://www.scubaboard.com/showpost.php?p=985826&postcount=10

Yet? geeeesh tuff crowd lol. I personally am favoring your line of thought but if someone else isnt , isnt that okie also? Wouldnt it be best to be comfortable in your enviorment thus more comfy helping a buddy or anyone else if they needed it?

Lotsa folks disagree with me... doesn't mean they're wrong. Of course, it doesn't mean they're right either :D

Comfortable in your environment isn't taking into account the whole picture. If the buddy (or the anyone else) you're trying to help is not comfy, the ease of using the equipment at your disposal becomes a factor, doncha think?

Yes I very much agree. As I said im very new to diveng and just trying to sort out what works for me. If I am comfy then I will be better able to help a fellow diver in trouble. Im talking recreational diviving not tech stuff here. Thats what I like aobut this board is hearing from the more experienced ppl. Doncha think a newbie board is needed here? to kinda help ppl ease into this sorta convo? Honestly its kinda scarey talking as a new diver I dunno , just logging on its kinda scarey. Im very happy to be here to and apprecitate all the advice :)

scuse my spelling!
