I'm a Fish!
I am looking for a back up set of regs and was considering the Scubapro R295/MK2 (around $214) from leisure pro.

I have used a G250 / MK10 for the last 21 years and can't say enough good things about it.

I was wondering if I would be better off looking for a used G250/MK10. I figure I can eventually hunt one down for about $120 plus the cost of having it checked out professionally.

Any opinions on this would be much appreciated.

Either would work very well.....for simple back-up dependability the Mk2.

Personally, for a reg that will sit around unused for long periods of time, I'd go for a diaphragm 1st stage like a Conshelf or Apeks XTX20.

If you are looking to save money, go for a used MK2/R190. That should be less than $100. The regs are so simple that there's very little risk in buying them used.

There are other choices too; another MK10 but with a G200B 2nd stage, very similar to the G250 but usually much cheaper, a late model MK5 with a 109 (metal case) 2nd stage, although the problem with that is you might end up putting your G250 in the closet.
