I was wondering if anyone knows how long the Dacor Pacer plus regulator has been around? I can find info on the Pacer XP, and others with similar names, but not the exact name I am looking for. What time frame were they manufactured, and where they any good. I am thinking of buying one. I noticed it has a unique exhaust port. Any comments on that aspect?

DO NOT BUY ANY DACOR PACER REG!!!!!!!!

Dacor has stopped supporting this reg... SO, you will not be able to get any type of parts for it. Service kits, exhaust diaphragm, main diaphragm, exhaust tee, LP seats, NONE of these parts are available anymore...

It may seem like a deal, because the person selling it knows that they cant get parts for it anymore, and you would be SCREWED!!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY ANY DACOR PACER REG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This now completes the testing of the emergency pacer system... Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

What's the serial number on the second stage? YOu might find it printed between the mouthpiece and the exhaust T. If it's an old one the chances are pretty good that the first two digits are the year of manufacture.

R..

It really doesnt matter what year it was made. Dacor stopped supporting ALL Pacer regulators. SO, no more parts for ANY of them...

Do yourself a favor buddy, and pass on this deal...

I've had my Dacor regulators overhauled with no problem. When I visit my local dive shop there are bunches of them hanging up that people have turned in to have overhauled. The repair guy isn't refusing to service them. The pressure seats are pretty common and o-rings can replaced with generic duplicates if the actual kit is not available.

"you will not be able to get any type of parts for it. Exhaust diaphragm, main diaphragm, exhaust tee, NONE of these parts are available anymore.."

This is extreme. How often do these parts need to be replaced? Especially an exhaust-tee.

A Pacer 2nd stage. Think about it. How difficult would it be to overhaul? How many parts are we actually talking about? Get real people. They are simple regulators and not that big a deal to overhaul.

Hey buddy,

DACOR just decided to not support these regs anymore...

That means no LP seats, no exhaust diaphragms, no inhalation diaphragms, no nothing....

Yes, they are simple to overhaul, however, if you dont have the exact replacement parts for them, you are taking a gamble...

In fact, most repair techs wont overhaul it if they dont have the parts from the manufacturer, because of liability...

So, you can get real man...

Well.... I guess I may have messed up, as I already bought them. They work just fine, and look like new. The guy I got them from said he bought them new just three years back, and I can still find them advertised, new on the internet from dealers, so They can't be that old. I know they quit supporting the older pacers, but from what I am finding out is that the "pacer" logo has been used for many years, on many different products with different other names. Maybe they are just giving up on the older versions? Why would Dacor give up on a fairly new product? Sounds like we might have a case for legal action to me, if you bought the stuff new and expected to have support for a reasonable timeline for the products life and then they bailed on you...
I took it into the LDS anyhow, to have it looked at, I guess I'll find out, just how servicable they still are. Worse case scenario, couldn't I just change the primary and secondary regs if I need to, and keep all the other stuff, as they are not Dacor items. If they check out fine, I'll use them until they give up.

That sounds like a plan to me.

I was "shouted down" when I related my experience with Dacor's. But, I do still see them being serviced. When Dacor Corporation stopped parts support, that didn't mean that all the individual Dacor dealers had to throw away all their Dacor parts that they had in inventory.
