I became indifferent to them once I found out a failure of the indicator won't affect valve function. I don't have any vindicator knobs and wouldn't add them to any of my tanks, but if I bought a tank or valve that had one I wouldn't bother to change it out either. In other words my take is if you like them - use them, if not - don't. :)

If I was still diving OC doubles, I'd thinking of switching them to my isolator. Now that I'm diving a rebreather, I don't really see any use to switching over to them. That said, I have nothing against them and like Jack said, if I bought a tank with them on it I wouldn't rush to replace it.

There is a Swiss CCR instructor who probably wishes one of her students had one on his O2 valve.

Probably...

I actually considered putting them on my oxygen tanks but decided that it wasn't worth it for me. I dive a mccr so if my oxygen is off, it's immediately noticeable when I try and add more.

I doubt she would have seen it.

I use them on most of my tanks but haven't gotten around to swapping out the valve on my deco tank yet. I haven't been able to bring myself to dump the O2. Maybe after the next time it's up for VIP.

I did have a handwheel come off once in Ginnie. It didn't cause any significant problem, but taught me to include the screw on the end of the handwheel in gear checks.

same can happen with any valve handle as it is the same connection, so nothing to do with vindicator

on many valves, it is just changing the handwheel assembly....

As @rhwestfall said, it does not require the removal of the valve. Just need one of them funky flathead screw drivers with a gap in it and viola!

I have one on my isolator, mainly because I've had it shut by people who I, in retrospect, shouldn't have let touch my tanks. I don't think a buddy would notice in a cave if a roll-off happened unless they were actively looking for it. Cave diving has plenty of other stuff to pay attention to I think.
