I've got like 70 dives and I can make micro-adjustments with breath control. Lots of people have a lot more experience than I do and can just do it without using their arms.

I don't see a reason to use my arms at all other than holding equipment, or maybe holding hands with an insta-buddy.

What? Is that wrong?
Heck who am I to pass judgement? some silly git with less than 50 logged dives since I rediscovered diving .
But what if it is a case of.-"cos thats the way its always been done" ?
What if it turns out that the fish, birds, airplanes and racecars/bikes have it right?
Isn't it then worth asking the question?

I mostly use my hands for holding the rocks I need to pick up for ballast during the dive. On the rare occasion I'm not doing that I usually use them for clubbing baby seals... It's a Canadian thing :dontknow:

One time on the board, during one of those endless "what skills should I practice next" threads, Lamont said something about practicing doing nothing ie. remaining motionless in the water column. I started doing it (because I'm naturally lazy anyways) and found my need for continuous correction with hands and feet diminished. The skill of no skill - very mysterious... and right up this happy beginners alley.

Lamont's advice on here is great!
The skill of no skill. ;-)

Kind of like the Matrix........"There is no spoon."

Dale, you rock!:rofl3:

Do you need your own backup club? Or is one backup per team good enough?
Mitch

Up here you have to be very careful how you phrase things. When you're clubbin with a team back ups are not a good idea; especially if someone is "doggin" it. What this has to do with the topic I do not know but I say ewwww if anyone is using their hands right now.

Gloves are convertible. Cup your hands for a paddle effect, or spread your fingers like Spock for the higher performing, superior in every way, "logical", split fin effect. ;-)
