I've got a USD Monitor I computer (probably 10 years old) that I keep for a backup computer. It's always worked flawlessly. Recently the "low battery" indicator started coming on, so I removed and replaced the soldered in battery with an identical one (3.3v lithium AA). With the battery removed, I shorted the power wires of the computer to discharge it and cause it to reset.
It now appears to work perfectly with the new battery, EXCEPT it spontaneously turns on and goes into "surface mode" several times per week, counting down from 8 hours and then turning off.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem after a battery change and how did you correct it? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
