I still use a U.S. Divers "Sea4" reg and octo (until I am allowed to buy new stuff). Both still perform great and breathe well, I have had them since 1996.

I was on ebay looking for some gear, i noticted that US divers gear was super cheap. I know they are out of buissness but why esle would it be so cheap?

Nothing against US DIVERS (some of my first gear was us divers and quite good) but i had a bad ebay experience with their equipment (not us divers fault, more the fault of the seller and my own ignorance).

Found a real cheap pair of scuba/snorkeling split fins. $25 cheap.

Guess what i got when they arrived?

Snorkeling split fins......useless for scuba.

oh, and don't forget, the e-bay seller is never the person who bought and used the gear. They always say, "I don't know anything about this stuff, I am selling it for a 'friend'".

As it turned out I practically I all US Divers stuff... Fins are US Divers, reg is Aqualung and BC is Seaquest... kinda worked out as reg and BC all get serviced in the same store and the warrenties get sent to the same location... makes it easier for me when I need to contact them...
All in all I'm happy with all of their stuff... I would be wary of e-Bay though...

like others have said ... U.S. Divers has been around forever. They make a lot of good stuff but lets remember that a lot of 60s', 70s' and 80s' stuff that is worn out is being sold on ebay. Be careful and do research on any item you're thinking about buying.. A lot of the older stuff you can't find parts for or by the time you have it repaired you have wished you have purchased it new (especially regulators or BCs). Other older brands to watch out for because you can't find parts are Dacor, Nemrod, Sportways, White Stag, Voit and Swimaster. All these companys made scuba for years also but are not either out of business or the new owners won't support their older products.

BTW, what is the deal with Dacor? The mere mention of the word makes SB blow up. I heard that they have been bought out by another company. Just curious.

US Divers=Augalung is a very good company. They bought APEKS.
They use the features on their better regs. APEKS is typically less for the same quality in my opinion. Buy the ATX 50 or better. I have the ATX 40 octo and the new egress.

they have always been part of the same company they have just shifted some names and gear around As has been said several times in the post. The new suff is mass market as said above. I tried one of the mass market masks because a friedn used my good mask and some how got melting rubber from a glove all over it i guess the glove reacted with heat and sothing else and was tacky ,, anyway in a rush i went a grabbed a US divers mask the LDS was closed. it took ALOT ALOT of scrubbing the lense with toothpaste i mean like quadruple my aqualung technisub. I dont know if they tried using alot of coating on it figuring wallmart shoppers wouldnt scrub or what but it was a major pita. after that though it was actually an enjoyable mask

BTW the technisub and Mythos masks are GREAT check em out

i have no idea for U.S. divers mosdtofen i use nemrod not the old perhaps newear .
so it is that is not anywera to find i talkt to some amerikan that was fixed i by the meaning that i talk about seamless well looks like that had been the U.S nemrod label once not treadet in Europ.....7*
