Cool.
Chug
Good luck.

Well there is your first taste of quick intros. DIve season is about up here, so I plan to try and pick-up a few dive partners between now and warm weather. I figure it will take me about that frign long, lol.

Welcome to SB. I quit diving for about six years and made it back. Good luck and hope you find some good dive buddies.

Hi TreeFrog...I grew up in SC (near Charlotte) and did not dive for nearly 13 years. Now, I dive all the time in the Galapagos and basically live to dive. Agree wholeheartedly with Capt Esteban...consider a refresher course or at least an hour or two with a private instructor to help you remember how to dive. I was essentially just dropped in the water after my long absence and it was no fun. Did a beginner type check dive after that with an instructor and it helped a lot.

I looked at the refresher course, and just could not justify the cost... the info is the same, I have the books, worked the problems... just too basic. Buoyancy, and stamina are of course important, and from what I see there is no real change in theory or practice.

I talked with my last instructor, he shook his head and told me I just need to get a little practice … so I feel pretty good about it all. I just need the time. I think I will start in the pool and go from there. But I still like the idea of having a partner to dive with.

Do you have a site that is nearby that you can dive at? For me it's a quarry. I have a few people I go with to the quarry. Find your site and you may find it easier to find a buddy.
My recommendation is to find something close as opposed to somewhere you need to travel to because you won't find the time to maintain your skills if you have to fly to your dive site every time you want to dive.
