I have a c4040 and pt-010 that I'm very happy with but I want a bit more than 4 mega pixels. Do any of the newer Olympuses fit in the same housing? Any recommendations?

Why upgrade? Gilligan seems to be doing a great job with his 4040. My upgrade would be to get to some warm water diving.

Unfortunately I can't view any of Gilligan's gallery pictures - they seem to have disappeared. However, I would not be surprised if they're good as I have got some excellent results from min and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever... The following is my personal favourite but you can view lots of others in my gallery if you feel so inclined:

Why upgrade?
A few reasons: it's only a 4 mega pixel camera which is fine for the web but lacking for print; I would like to be able to shoot wide angle; and I've had it for three years - I want to try something different! I like Olympus but don't know much about their newer releases. I was hoping for some input.

As for your warm water upgrade, good luck with that! I just returned from Fiji after having spent three years there and a year before that on the GBR in Queensland, teaching diving. That's 4 solid years and 1500+ dives. I'm now working for a store on the St Clair Shores so that I can get some cold water, wreck diving experience on the Great Lakes.

I'm thinking about upgrading the whole thing, housing and all. I'd like to stay with Olympus though...

Thanks for that compliment.

I took the gallery down some time ago as it was redundant as well as too much work to maintain it along with my website. My pics are on my website at http://kayakdiver.com

I always keep my open for an upgrade as well and for the same reasons as you stated along with having newer technology such as less shutter lag, larger monitor, larger memory capacity amongst other features. I don't do any printing so I still stick with my two C4000's. Guess I will upgrade when they die. I have over 100,000 photos on each of them. I also have 67m wet mount lenses which I would likely factor into a new housing purchase.

Something to keep in mind is that many of the newer models regardless of brand do not have a zoom feature in the macro mode. The lens is fixed at its widest angle and you have to move the entire camera too and from the subject. I use my zoom feature all the time.

If you are not going to add external lenses I would take a serious look at the Canon A640 in the Canon housing versus the Ikleite housing because the Canon housing has an oval shaped lens port that offers less obstruction of the internal strobe. However, if you are considering external wet mount lenses the the Ike housing is the better way to go as it has a 67mm lens port.
