I'm a Fish!
Hi Folks,
Just letting you know that we have a purple Urchin Removal Dive coming up this coming Sunday 9/7 at Stillwater Cove in Sonoma County, California. Meet time is 8 AM. If you have never attended a dive please be prompt so you can fill out the liability waiver form and get briefed. If you need to know what gear is required and the protocols for removal you can refer to one of the stickies I have posted at the top of this forum. If you have any questions at all please let me know. The only silly question is the one not asked. See everyone at the Dive site!

The dive is still on!

8:00 AM don't be late.
If you're flying in for this let us know and I'll send someone in our private limo to pick you up.
I know a lot are coming in from Australia and points beyond so we want to make life as easy as possible. This will be huge 😉
Thanks!

Hey Eric -

missed this post, but how often are the dives done and is there some sort of email list?

Hi @scoobyluu,
The dives are always on Sundays at Stillwater Cove in Sonoma County.
Right now we are in transition trying to find a better format besides google chat which is terrible.
I will be posting upcoming dives here also.
You can also call Seal's Water Sports at 707-542-3100 and talk to Zeke or Jennifer.
What is your experience level and your highest certification?

Thanks Eric -

Highest cert is OW (working on AOW) with ~20 dives. Happy to help out but if I need more experience that's ok as well

@scoobyluu Where have you done most of your dives? We would need to have a discussion about your skill level honestly before I can make an assessment and then there are a few gear requirements.
We want people to have some Norcal shore diving experience.
Rescue would be a bonus as well as knowing decent navigation and good buoyancy control is a must.
Harvesting involves a lot of task loading. We use lift bags to pull up several bags of urchins so knowing how to operate one safely is a must.
We will be having free seminars at the shop to start and eventually that will turn into a specialty class with an urchin collection certification.
