Upcoming Club Meetings Feb-June 2009

In a different but related matter:
I'm in the process of putting together the 2009 USS Oriskany reunion which will be here in Pensacola during October. There'll be lots of Oriskany vets around town that week, and the planned activities will include a visit to the ship - some of the Vets are active divers.

Thats awesome! Keep us updated on how the planning is going and when the time comes close! I'd love to participate in something like that!! That must be amazing to get the chance to dive the ship you served on!!!!!!

Donna, I'll pass the Information on to the Club's Board of Directors at the next meeting so we can discuss the topic.

Some of us live on this side of Pensacola. It sure would be nice if we could move the meeting to other areas

If someone has an issue with a meeting at another dive shop, I have a conference room at work that has white boards, TV/DVD, comfortable chairs, etc that we can use.

I'll even bet that we could get a free place with equipment at UWF also.

I'd be willing to split the locations of the meetings too, if that would be more helpful for other club members. It would be nice if we could either switch between 2 places (since the meeting are only once a month) that would accomodate Gulf Breezers (or close to GB) one month and maybe towards Pensacola "outsiders" (on the skirts of Pcola) If we got a predefined 2 locations we could rotate even/odd months per location so it wouldn't get too confusing...maybe....
UWF has some good meeting rooms but one of the board members would have to check with the "higher up" people there...maybe we could market it as a WFDC/UWF Scuba meeting. Some of their classrooms would be great too, they have HUGE projectors, and HUGE chalk boards that might be helpful for presentations!!!!!!!

Just my $.02 on how we could make accomodations for ALL the members.....

I do agree that we should keep it out of any of the dive shops though to prevent biasis customers/employees! But don't think we should limit where the "guest speakers" come from...everyone has their different experiences with different things at different times even as a different shop employee! And it would be good in creating friendships with employees from all places.

I'll be happy to give the Oriskany course at one of your meetings. The course usually runs about 45 minutes, but has gone as long as 2 hours with lots of questions.

Josh has turned the MBT Oriskany course into a bonafide PADI specialty course for anyone that wants to get a cert card out of it.

cool Mike and as we grow that is one of the plans for the club which is to set up cells or different divisions or chapters of WFDC like say North Pensacola chapter or West Pensacola Chapter or even the Ft Walton or PC chapters if it grows to that point...

maybe we can set a separate meeting one month on a different day at the Univ. and see how many we can get there?? Get with Barry and the board at the next meeting and I am sure they can put you in charge of a committee for setting that up or however you guys decide to work it??
