I guess the test is what they are like after you "get them back." Did they actually learn anything and improve anything and become better divers through their certification dives?
I would agree. I have been fortunate that quite a few of my former students have become avid, active divers :)..... In fact I am currently working towards my Dive Control Specialist (Assistant Instructor) Instructor level. In the class that I am interning in, one of my former students is in it. I am soooo proud of her. Only bad thing is she thinks I'm a bit too hard & picky. :eyebrow:

Tammy, there is almost a subtext in your messages.....that you try to train them so well it almost does not matter whether they even do the OW cert dives or not. I actually am sort of OK with this, and view the OW dives as just the next opportunity for people to get their act together. The biggest thing about the OW dives might be that they are OW....no walls, maybe not a bottom very nearby, not good viz, strange animals swimming around...lots of things that are a head trip but not really a diving issue. But, you ultimately have to get your head together as well as your buoyancy...

The best part about living in the Keys is that I never need to give a referral! :D

Absolutely, I actually have been mostly in agreement with you.
