If you go with the speedos or other form fitting shorts, you could always wear some regular shorts over them, and only "reveal" yourself during the wetsuit donning and doffing.

BINGO! Speedos are very comfortable under a Wet Suit and can easily be hidden by a towel while donning the wet suit.

Girl here, but I wear a lycra skin under my wetsuit (7 mm) which makes the thing easier to put on, though I imagine the 3 mm are a lot easier. Usually commando under that unless I think they're going to lock up the bathrooms; then I wear a bathing suit underneath to avoid flashing the local restaurant (again).

No Logo Dive Trunks are very similar to bicycling shorts, but without the padding for a bicycle seat. The only problem with them is that the drawstring is *way* too long, as if they think you might gain 200 pounds after buying a size that fits.

These are what I use for swimming in the ocean and for lap swimming in the pool. And they have this cute little dive flag on the left thigh!

What restraunt would that be? **Note to self, start checking out beachside restaurants** :D

Had the same problem with swims suits I would wear (no speedos for me, based on public opinion polls!).

Got the Henderson skin shorts (http://www.hendersonusa.com/product_hotskin.html#), these work great, are somewhat easier on the viewing public, has rubber banding at legs to keep from rolling or sliding. Could have better wear lifetime (few loose threads, logo peeling off), but works OK.

Cheers,
Walter

If you're going to hide under a towel, why bother with the Speedo?

I wear the long speedo like in the last olympics. Sort of a light fabric bicycle short. There are several brands of what I think are called compression shorts that work too, I have one from a company called underarmor that was sold in a lacrosse shop.

LOL, I forget the name.

They locked the bathrooms on me before I had a three and a half hour drive home, so I hid behind the outside showers, which kept me from being viewed from the parking lot for the dive site. After a freezing shower, stripping, and beginning to leisurely get into my street clothes (though was moving pretty quickly, just due to the cold), turned around to realize that the deli, which is closed at night, has a brightly-lit upstairs restaurants with a lot of windows and tourists who got more than they expected out of the seaside view. ;) Turned bright red for a second, then figured "Eh, they've seen it", and continued as before. Heh heh.
