Hi Cali...

Sorry to seem to have offended someone....

We do realize you have the best of all worlds...an ocean in your back yard...many of us are not so lucky! LOL...I am from the Mid-West and should not be living here! ;-)

I thought perhaps California divers had not heard yet of the event...so I posted to make sure that divers were aware....This is not a competition..it is merely an assessment and evaluation that will allow divers to be recognized for mastering essential scuba skills...We use the word competition because there is a prize and there is a winner...

I saw today that they are starting a reality series for Race Car driving..
Truly what is wrong with our sport gaining attention as well??
Singers get attention, cooks, football teams, baseball, skiiers, surf boarders, swimmers, dancers, etc....

I am just a mom, a nurse, a diver in Kansas City that has a true love for our sport that came up with the idea....We will be working with the numbers that we have...I think it would be great to have atleast 10 divers from California come down...i Know some of the best of all divers have to be there!

So far, Florida and California -- It is there busy season of the year...so for the shops it is difficult for them to put something together for this...But it would be great if we have this in Cozumel the first time and then perhaps in Florida or California another...the California kelp would make some awesome underwater footage and the cold would certainly put some to the test...

We're not offended at your contest. We're just to laid back to care.

Its like taking something we live every day, like a freeway chase or gridlock and having some out of state LLC roll in and jab us for not jumping all over an event hosted in a foreign country, pitting us and our signature passtime against a bunch of land lock wannabes. Its not offensive - we'd just rather pick sand out of our flip flops.

You know what gets the lowest rating of any sporting event's all star weekend? Its the SKILLS competition - which is essentially what this is. It'd be like watching Payton Manning throw a football through a swinging tire, or watching the mindless three-point shoot out, or the stupid Home Run derby, or the compulsaries in figure skating (which they took off the air 20 years ago, thank God... I'm detecting shrinkage that I even know that one)

Are you following me? What you're proposing is a pay-to-play skills exhibition, with no discernable judging scale, subjective coronation, and a purse that isn't locked in. We're not offended, we're just not interested.

As to referring to us SoCal's as "Cali..." we DO FIND THAT OFFENSIVE. :no

Cali is in Colombia.

Just so you know.

Very nicely put Ken & I also remember the compulsaries not that I watched them.

Say it ain't so!
Seems like only yesterday that I was watching them; while I can't say I was bored with 'em like I am with baseball or golf, the fact that I haven't noticed they're not around any more probably says something... I mean, I haven't - missed - 'em :D

Up north we find "Cali" offensive also.

I am going to watch an evaluation between the LA Lakes and some other 'group of participants from another city' so I wont be able to sign up.
