I have the chance to pick up a couple of UK 1200 halogen lights. I was wondering about the conversion of these to LED. How difficult is this to do? What about the use of lipo batteries instead of D cell batteries. Something like these

Hard Case LiPo

It's not that great of an idea and how hard it would be depends on your soldering and electronics skills and maybe even machining skills. On top of all that a plastic body serves as an insulator which is not what you want with leds as you need to conduct the heat away from the led.

Really the UK1200 is just a big bulky plastic light. There are much better choices out there.
