Hey Guys,

I would love to do U85. Can anyone give me an idea about max depth, and the likely bottom temp this time of year? Also, how long is the trip from Nags head to the dive site? Anyone interested in doing this dive with me? Sea Scan in Kill Devil Hills, has trips running every Sunday. My wife won't dive unless it's at least 70F on the bottom.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve,
Is Sea Scan opened again. I thought they had closed last year. I dove the U-85 with Outer Banks in Nags Head. It was agreat dive except the temp got a little cool at bottom. I dove it in August. Vis was about 25 feet, bottm temp was 62, and bottom was at just around 100ft.

I have no idea! Their web site is gone. If they did close it's a shame as they seemed a good outfit. Hmmm I guess at 62F I'll need a buddy for this one other than my wife!

I will be in Kill devil hills in August. Can you tell me where Sea Scan is located and a phone #?

I wish I could, but withouth their web site. Rumour is they closed...I've no idea though. OBXDive is just down the road (about 1 mile further down).

Without a shovel you can't break 100 feet and after a quick glance at my log book all my dives on her had a max depth within a foot or two of 95. Also, it will probably in the upper 60s or low 70s on the surface but plan on mid 50s on the bottom.

Seascan is/was about 1 1/2 mile north of the Nags head fishing pier on the beach road. The nags head pier is easy to find. Head north and seascan will be on the left. They used to have a big dive flag sign in the parking lot.

Steve,
I am gonna dive the U 85 on July 24 with OBX. I wil be down there for vacation. You are more than welcome to join us. Just call down and make a res on the boat with OBX.

Forgive my ignorance, but who or what is OBX?
