Nemrod:
Thdy could have cut the tower off. At 150 feet this is not going to be a dive for most people. As soon as a few are bent on it that will end recreational charters. Sure, the Tech folks will dive it but even then, 150 feet is deep. You cannot get charters down there to go out to any of the natural bottom or wrecks that are in the 100 foot range because it is "too deep" and "too far" so now they are going to dive a 150 foot plus deep wreck 26 miles from shore---hardly.

There are often surface currents that can be fairly strong, these dissapate rapidly below about ten feet. Should not be a problem.

Maybe we could steal the thing, all go out and hook our lift bags on it and drag it in to shallow water, oops, how did that thing get there! N

I have a better idea!

Why don't we buy our own aircraft carrier and sink it intead? It would be cheaper.

It cost $20 million to sink the USS Oriskany.

We could buy our own Aircraft carrier for about $4.5 million and sink it.

Other options would be to turn it into a "really cool liveaboard" with a Tiki-bar and a hot tub on the flight hanger deck.

A lot of the offshore oil platforms are being turned into reefs. They are cut about 50 feet down and the lower section called the jacket is left in place. I have always thought it would be neat if someone or company with money would buy an intact platform and turn it into a dive resort.

There was a guy in the North Sea that moved onto a platform and proclaimed it to be a new country. He even printed his own money and his own country passport. He called his new "nation" SEALAND. We could always see if he wanted to rent out space, but the water up there is a little chilly.

That would not be a bad idea, if the first drop was not so high!

:D

I think I saw a picture a oil platform dive resort somewhere in SE Asia maybe Indonesia.

It cost $20 million to sink the USS Oriskany.

Dat is because it was done by de guberment. They used dem 20,000 dollar hammers dey gots. I knows some reedneks that culd sank it fer oh sey about 20 bucks and some beer, cheap beer at dat. Y'all think'n the Naby gem us'n one dem big boats we culd get it sank in bit closer, dat what ah thank'n and bunch cheaper. N

I know some rednecks you could get to sink it for free, if you told them they got to blow something up or shoot at something. (You'd prob still have to provide them the beer, but cheap beer would work just as well).

gives new defintion to "giant stride entry"

I wonder if you could be dual certified to BASE Jump from a platform and then scuba from there?:06:
