"two tank" dives in NJ

I'm sure this is probably a dumb question... when you do a two tank dive on a charter in NJ, do you need to bring two tanks? Or will the boat be able to refill a single tank while underway? If so, can they usually handle a high pressure fill? Thanks in advance!

You need to bring both tanks. There is only one boat that I am aware of that even has a compressor on-board.

Thanks for the info. Going to have to get that expense approved by the committee (the wife)! My advice to the single people out there -- buy every toy you ever hoped and dreamed of BEFORE you marry! Or marry someone who appreciates your toys! And yes, I know what the last sentance sounds like...

I have looked into some boats/charters, mostly out of northern/central jersey. Here's another dumb question -- if some dives "doubles" on a two tank dive, does that mean that they bring 4 tanks? Or just go back down with one set of doubles? Thanks!

Short term you could rent cylinders, be careful when you get somebody that appreciates your toys they also know what they cost. When you're using doubles a lot depends on the depth and duration of the dive wether you have enough gas for the second dive. But on the whole as everybody says if it's a two tank dive you need two tanks. Most of the boats that I know that have a compressor on board only use them for overnighters.

If you're married here's the drill.

1) Identify what you want.
2) Take a little $ out every now and then till price reached.
3) Buy the product and store in trunk or other place for at least 4-6 wks
4) When she see's it just, truthfully, say "Oh, I've had that for a long time"

Takes awhile, but doesn't rock the boat. :icosm07:

I choose the "start high and retreat tactic"

When I first got married I was into skydiving, Scuba, Harleys and Hockey.....

I quit my skydiving and sold my Harley and only play Hockey occasionally.

Now that I pretty much just dive and my wife is thrilled with how safe and inexpensive a sport it is.
