I can tell you what not to eat. Bratwurst with onions and green peppers- I nearly puked halfway thru the dive. Bananas can have the same effect. I ate a snickers bar before a 100ft Lake Michigan dive dive once, I'll never do that again!

The best dive food I have found to date has been watermelon. Potassium rich foods help keep cramps away.

Rick Inman:
I have noticed the reverse thermalcline in my area when ice starts developing around the bays. But really, at 34f near the surface and 37f at depth, who cares? Personally, I can't tell the difference.

Well, it is observation of the phenomena...

Also, I understand that 37 and 34F are not Roatan, but it is
to keep in mind if I dive wrecks in winter. As I go up, I need
to prepare get colder and safety stops and possible decom
will see me doing little in colder water then the dive.

This is all for awareness...

I have found that in the shallower lakes, the water at the bottom is warmer than the surface water, especially with formed ice or skim ice.

As far as food goes, I prefer high protien and high starch like a ham or turkey sandwich on a roll. No carbonated beverages, no hot beverages, no alcohol (until after the final dive) and follow it all with a couple of antacids. If I don't eat, lots of water and antacids anyway.
