I worked on the Crystal River power plant in 1972 and we never saw them during the winter except a few at the headwaters of the springs, and now theyre everywhere all year. Like so many snowbirds in this state, they come for the season and then decide to stay year round.drbill:Hmmm... I didn't realize that manatees were only seasonal residents in parts of Florida before power plants and other thermal discharges warmed up the water. Interesting! I occasionally see them in the harbor at my parents' place in Sarasota.
Good point.
