I will be taking a class in Portland the week of Sept 13-17, and figured my gf and I wouldn't leave our gear at home, but plan on staying over that Fri eve, and look for some diving. I have not dived anywhere in Maine since the early 70's. or except for a 2 tank last Sept in Forth Witherall, NH, anywhere along the NE coast, since my teens.

You do have 7 mil wet suits, or dry suit, hoods, gloves, booties, right?

BTW, have a great time in Bonaire. I went the first week of March and had a blast.

Yah, dived last Sat @ Dutch Springs (@48d), 7/6/5, layered with 5m hooded vest. Tollerable. Last Sept @ Fort Witherill SP< NH all I needed was the 7/6/5.

But I should have a used White dry in a ouple of weeks, anyway.

Ain't Bonaire diving great?

To get back to your main comment back in the beginning ---don't limit yourself for the one day on Saturday. The conditions change so quickly around here such that you might have a terrible dive on Sat. but a great dive the next day at the same site.

I totally agree with oldflounder. You can also have a great first dive and then the conditions change. Flexibilty is always the key. Kettle Cove is usually a safe bet and right down the road from Two Lights. I saw my first sculpin here. They are so cool looking.
