I have a 40lb Halcyon wing on my Coldwater single tank rig. Works great and I've never noticed any "tacoing" or excess drag. I use a 30lb DGX wing for warm water travel, but that's because I'm a gear hog....

The forest city looks awesomeCan't beat Tobermory. It's our "2nd home" during the dive season.
my profile pic is on the Forest City.
Is "too much wing" bad? I mean, it seems like if I need a 30 lb wing but I see a used 45 lb wing and backplate setup that looks well-maintained and is a quality brand like Halcyon or OMS or Dive Rite- I should grab it, no? Would I be messing up?
HOG makes decent gear. I would not get the 32lb bungee wing though, the bungee's are on the outside of the wing and are an entanglement hazard. HOG 32lb 360 Bungee Wing Black and Red. There's nothing saying you can't mix & match the components.Thank you for that OWD!!! Is there much love around here for the HOG package? I will absolutely check out the BC forum!!

You won't find a better bang for your buck than the DGX BP/W package, a lot of divers on here recommend it or own one.
Good location. A good buddy of mine that I have dived with MANY times lives in Defiance. He used to be active here on SB but I only see him on FB these days.
The only issue with this plan is that it will take a long time before I get to Lake Huron. I mean, I'm old- I could be dead by then. I think I've seen video of the Mary Alice B. and it sounds absolutely amazing!!!For local [NW Ohio] diving, start with White Star, progress to Gilboa and then, in a couple of seasons - following AOW, Rescue, Nitrox, Dry Suit and Deep training, you can try Huron. Port Sanilac has not only the Regina, but also the Mary Alice B. one of my favorites as it is resting upright at 90' and altough just a tug boat, has all the bells and whistles you could want in a wreck [ship's wheel, cupboards full of china, etc.] In the meantime, go to the Caribbean and hit Utila, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel and a few other spots. Warm water is very different than cold water diving and you should try both.
