I managed to survive my first day of open water dives. Water in the Aegean was a bit chilly but if you didn't have a suit on, you just needed to move around to stay warm enough.

After putting a lot of the course instruction into practice, I realize I have a lot to learn about bouancy and trim. I'm glad we weren't doing this near a reef, I felt bad enough about damaging the flora and kicking up sand as it was.

We saw numerous bait fish, a few cucumbers, several species of anenome and at the last, some small blue fish sheltering in the anenome's tentacles. Oh, and urchins. Lots and lots of urchins.

I'm trying not to make too many assumptions as I go along but one is that I think I need to try a new dive shop. The one I've been going to is close by and was recommended but the servic3e seems to be lacking, even in this country that normally lacks for customer service.

Tomorrow is another day that brings more dives. Once certified, I think I'll have to make a few dives simply to practice for bouancy and trim. I'll probably enjoy future dives a lot more if I'm fully in control of my actions. After that, or while in the process, I need to find good spots to go diving locally.

Certification, lots & lots of practice, additional training, more experience, always learning...:D
