Great news that they have been found, stayed at the Racha Hotel a few times (beautiful property) and am quite friendly with the two dive teachers at the resort, sounds like one of them was with the tourist.

Been in contact with one of the people involved — not quite as dramatic as the article makes it sound. Basically, strong currents swept them fairly quickly off a dive site. The instructor took his client to shore after their boat couldn’t find them when they surfaced.

Their boat quickly raised the alarm, and speed boats were dispatched from the hotel along with other vessels to search. The instructor and client could see the boats looking for them, but it took a little while before they were spotted.

Sounds like a perfectly executed search and rescue — and most importantly, everyone’s okay

A little bit may have been lost in translation

So often here we hear about the stupid things some divers do. Refreshing to hear about people being prepared and rational.

The guy I know is very solid and the hotel he works for is a true five star resort - thoroughly recommend it if you want to spoil yourself so really am not suprised they had a robust plan that could be executed quickly
