In doing a little poking around on a couple of sites I spotted the Tusa Platina Evolution series. Can someone explain the $120 difference between the 3860 and the 5500?
Beyond that, I'm wondering about recommendations for buying my first set of gear. I think I'm going to go with the jacket style BCD, and I would really like to keep it in the $400-500 range or less if possible. Can anyone make recommendations? I'm a fairly large guy, 6'2" about 240lbs. My LDS carries Oceanic and ScubaPro, and I'm close enough to ScubaToys to actually drive out there if the deal and gear is good enough.
The majority of my diving is going to be lake diving with the occasional jaunt down to the Gulf and Caribbean. My diving plans for the foreseeable future involve working my way up through Rescue Diver probably over the next year or less, I hope. Most of my Gulf diving will probably be wrecks and rigs, if this makes a difference.
