My "entitlement" in this case is spelled out in the Constitution. The Dept. of Homeland Security doesn't have the authority to override that document. Since they're trying to, it's my responsibility as a citizen of this country to say "NO!".

In fact it should be our duty to push back when our rights are being violated.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

For me it is simple, if the TSA can't do it's job without irradiating Americans...
...TSA does not have the right or authority to force Americans to make the false choice between being blasted with radiation or molested.
From what I have read, the radiation dose from the scanner is much less than what you get from the environment during even a short flight. I would be interested to see any contrary information (but not interested to hear conspiracy theories).

Being a Canadian I have the option to avoid the states, so I always look for flights that do not connect to my destination in the US, my preference is direct flight to destination if I cannot do this I will find another destination. I have only experienced the TSA's uneducated ill mannered attitude on a couple of occasions and will never put myself through that again. It baffles me to think that the US cannot achieve better security against these nut case religious extremists other than by implementing these archaic procedures with no consideration for our personal rights!

Until the US realizes they are loosing business and affecting the bottom line they will not take action to rid the TSA of the idiots that are comiing up with these stupid procedures as we all know the bottom line is all they care about.

I am no lawyer but I think you are contracting with a Private Company for a service so you have to jump through their hoops or the hoops of their contractors. Plus people bring up comparisons to other countries systems, and complain about training of TSA folks. Sure both can be better but look at the VOLUME and NUMBER of people we are dealing with. Comparing us to Israel is unfair. More people fly through Atlanta than probably fly through all the airports of Israel combined per year.

What I find hypocritical or just stupid is if you are on this board complaining about loosing your "rights" I assume you have been on a dive charter at some point. If you have then you signed waivers that supposedly give all your "rights" away, and probably did it gladly. I have never been on a boat and heard anyone complaining about the violation of their Constitutional rights! So you signed it thinking "I can always sue them later" making you a hypocrite. Pretty fuzzy line in the sand.

Love to travel, no problem with the TSA, ciao!

Last time I've checked dive boats don't use porn-scanners and intimate pat downs.

Pistole is also wrong to say that “the government” has a role to play in public safety and specifically airline safety. The national government has no such constitutional safety role. The only time the term appears in the Constitution is where it says “The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.”

This above quote is from a longer quote in an earlier post. It is wrong. The US government has a complete right to regulate airline safety under the commerce clause of the Constitution. From the US Constitution:QUOTE]The Congress shall have Power To
...........
To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;[/QUOTE]
Interstate travel, particularly that involving airlines, is a form of interstate commerce and subject to regulation by the US Congress. The commerce clause does not limit the regulation to anything--it simply gives Congress the authority to "regulate Commerce" in whatever way it sees fit and it has done so by creating such agencies as the TSA.

If it really boils down to "porn scanners" more fuzzy lines in the sand.

If you are on this board I assume you wear a bathing suit, in public even????? Tight wetsuit???? or do you dive and swim in a box????

Get over it!!!!

I haven't done a whole lot of international travel but if you just have a connecting flight going through the US don't you stay in a secure area that doesn't require you to be re-screened? If you leave that area aren't you required to clear customs? I am just asking because I don't know.

I agree the TSA is illmannered and the screening process is a joke. How does it differ in Canada? The places I have been (though limited) have included a pat down prior to boarding the plane bound for the US.
