Krisscuba next time you are in Jacksonville let us know and we can do some diving offshore Jacksonville. There is some great diving here.

I am a little late responding, as I was in Orlando yesterday. Troy is a very nice dive, and a first-class set-up. The walk down to the spring is a bear with your gear, as Harley said, and the platform at the water could be bigger, but midweek it should not be a problem. Restroom facilities are very clean and the whole area is great. I wish I could have met you there, as I have a new BC to check out, but I have to work;-0 . Hope you have a good dive.

I dove Troy Thursday. The last time I dove it was before it was open to the public. Access only by boat, It was great and the water was clear. I now wish it did not have a public access!

I have not seen the water as high as it was on thursday. It was almost that high when I dove it in 97.

The facilities are great, But,....................

Thursday mid week mid day. There were a half dozen divers crowding the small platform. Lots of out of school kids jumping around and kicking tons of silt down from the top. It was like diving in a black sand storm. The best part was in the river run. The water was clear under the tannin level. I have found that a lot of the river is like that. If you have not tried it ,. try it. The first foot or so is dark, once below that the water is very clear under the tannnin layer. We saw a school of at least a hundred mullet around us, very large ones and many turtles. You normally only see this when the river run is high.

Sorry evryone for not replying, I haven't been keeping up on the scuba board lately. Yes, Troy is open, I dove it in February.

I like the dive site and it's pretty good for checking out new gear and playing with weighting and trim. The facilities are good.

One problem... I tried to go with a friend back in April. We drove a decent distance only to find the gates locked. The flooding had been over for a week or two so we were surprised. Does anyone know a number to call to make sure the place is open before driving out there?

You can try Jim Hollis River Rendevous, Bill Renneker's or the Dive Outpost.
