Went to Troy Springs last Sat. 1-3. Nice big and deep..80ft, clear with a bit green tinge. The entrance fee is now $10 but it is still on the honor system. There is a volunteer worker that does check for c-cards. And solo diving is not allowed. The walk from the parking lot to the spring isn't that bad. The ramp to the springs is a gradual switch-back set up like you see at Disney. Planned on a two tank dive but my buddy's dive computer flooded and he had to make it down to Tampa before the dive shop closed to start the repair/return process.

This is a keeper and I'm planning to return there soon.

Let us know when you next plan a trip up there!!

Are you in Ocala or somewhere around there? How long does it take to get there from where you are? - so i can guess from Orlando.

Its near Branford, that would be a bit of a drive, about 2.5-3 hours as a guess from Orlando, and probably about 3.5 from Tampa (I-75), here is a link:

Hope that helps.

If others were to go, we would be happier going on a saturday as that is better timing wise. Why are people so set on sunday dives most of the time?? (i know Smokeaire went on a saturday this time, but most trips seem to be sundays).

I'm about 25 minutes south of Ocala. I can get to the Orlando Airport in a bout 45 minutes. It took me less than 2 hours to get to Troy Springs. I would guess from Orlando it would be a little less than 3 hours and from Tampa around 3.5 to 4.

It takes me around 2 hours to get to the Troy Springs area. It is located between Branford and Mayo (closer to Mayo I would say).

Werent there other springs around that area, within about 20-30 miles that could make a real weekend of it? I am thinking here of suitable for OW divers w/o cavern experience! But i know there are others for cavers.

Hey you guys email me or P.M. me and I will dive with you guys I am used to all the springs around that area and will make sure you all have a good time. I know the local dive shops to get all the air you need and all that good stuff. Places to eat and the whole deal. Just let me know I am at least one or two of them every Sunday.

Troy springs may be an interesting place to bring my pop-up camper for the weekend. Thanks for the info

Troy would be a nice weekend trip. Royal is also close, and Ginnie isn't too far from there. There is a LDS in Branford, just 6 miles from Troy. Couple of real good restaurants there, too.
