My fiance and I will be in Bonaire and Curacao for our honeymoon in 3 weeks and have never been to the carribean. She is a very cold natured person and will be wearing a 5mm hyperstretch suit.

Not only will she be too warm in 5mm, but quite bouyant, which means she will need a lot of weight. Trust me, this is NOT a good combination.

I too get cold quickly, but find that a full 3mm is just fine. However, I also have an Aeroskin sleevless vest that I can wear under the suit to add another layer to my core. They are especially good because they don't add any buoyancy.

As other people have mentioned if you are doing mutiple dives over multiple days you will want some exposure protection. My fiance and I will be in Bonaire and Curacao for our honeymoon in 3 weeks and have never been to the carribean. She is a very cold natured person and will be wearing a 5mm hyperstretch suit. I figure the extra thickness will offset the compression of the material. I will probably settle for a full 3mm and probably a beanie. We hope to make 3 or 4 dives on most days and we will be gone for 2 weeks so I am sure we will really feel the cooling effect of the water.

I think you'll be very surprised by how warm it will be. I agree with SubMariner....I can't see you needing more than a 3 mil. Truthfully, I only use a 3 mil suit when I'm doing multiple dives (3-4 a day). Otherwise I go in a skin....I've only use a beanie once...and that's when the temp dropped to the low 70's (at the end of January in the Bahamas).

Just my .02

Peace,
Cathie
