After diving in twelve feet of vis at Marineland yesterday, we had incredible blue water off Long Beach this morning. Report and pics at Tropical diving near Long Beach

Woah! Gorgeous shots! What's the depth in the sand? And how much relief does the wreck have?

Really like 5&6 "Closeup on the Wolf". Great texture on his skin. Also the final shot is beautiful. Love the hanging Metridiums.

It's about 90 feet deep, with maybe 15 feet of relief. There was a fishing boat on it when we arrived, so we waited about a half hour for them to leave. I don't know why they were there. There are a few sand bass, but not much else to attract fishermen. The bottom is littered with lures and sinkers because rusty wrecks tend to catch more gear than the guys above catch fish.

What kind of macro life is on the wreck? Any notable nudies or other rare inverts?

Other than a few nudis, the attraction is wolfeels and metridiums. A few Aegires, Spanish Shawls and San Diego dorids, but it's more of a wide angle site. The Ocean Defenders removed most of the nets from the wreck last year, so it's pretty easy to look around what was once the deck of the steel sailboat. It used to be covered with sea lion skulls and bones.

Am I going blind? I only see two images, Phil and Frank.

You and Merry should come to the island and do a little blue water diving near Avalon. I've now seen two pictures of that 16 ft great white.

You have to click on the link to see the rest of them:

@ Dr.Bill: Were the two pictures of the Landlord taken from underwater? Or topside?

Ah, I didn't see the link.

Both pictures I've seen were taken from boats.

When I did my water sampling yesterday at Descanso, the ocean looked absolutely tropical... very clear. Plan to dive today.
