Yeah, but what about the coffee? :D :coffee: :D

Oh right, the coffee. I tried a cup when I was 14. Didn't like it and haven't had once since. The Belikin draft was great though! :beerchug:

I began diving this area in 1989 and truly have not seen degradation of the reef at all in this area. LOVE Turneffe and keep going back and back.

No shore diving here but the closest dive sites are just 5 minutes by boat so it's not necessary. Something to consider is going out to the mangroves. We started taking our guests snorkeling out there to look for manatee and to see all the amazing tunicates and batfish and juvies that live within the roots of the mangroves. Next time you go to Turneffe, ask them to take you.

Something to consider is going out to the mangroves.

I asked about flopping around out there, but our DM mentioned that there had been a couple of crocs flapping around and in fact one had nipped a watchman one night. They were reluctant to take us out, although I suspect they would have have if we pushed it...

Internet? Cell phones?

There is splendid isolation... so no. (Try it, you'll like it).

There is one sat phone as well as one Internet computer, both available for minimal cost.

I mentioned earlier that this is a bit like a liveaboard and this is a good example of that.

I thought I would miss being out of touch with my office, but amazingly, the world carried on just fine...

Hell of a nip!

Apparently it was just a little fella that climbed up on a dock one night....

But ya, poodle = "nip", croc = "NIP".

I remember there was a croc on the backside of the island but we went out about 15 minutes to a mangrove area with the manatees, but who knows?

Too bad, it's pretty cool out there!

I spent the entire week looking for a Batfish, but alas, it was not meant to be. :(

Here's a link to my photos:

Ah, but you did find the endemic white spotted toadfish, one of my favorites!

Next time you go, go out to the mangroves about a 10-15 minute ride behind the resort and get in on snorkel in the sand channels where the current runs between the mangroves. That's where we have found them many times and actually, the only place we have found them.
